The return of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup – Manila Bulletin

After a hiatus in 2020, Toyota Motor Philippines’ first racing series is making a comeback. The 2021 Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup returns with the first stage on July 10, 2021.

Now led by Toyota Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s global motorsport brand, this season’s Vios Cup promises to bring racing action to more fans as the event turns into a bigger online spectacle. and more exciting. Although there are no public spectators at the race site at Clark International Speedway to strictly enforce safety protocols to participants, viewers can participate in the fun and watch from anywhere via the Facebook pages of Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing PH. In addition to full race coverage, online fans can also look forward to exciting games, activities and entertainment with their favorite racers.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup will feature two racing events: the Circuit Championship and the Autocross Challenge.

The Circuit Championship features the classic format, with drivers competing in their respective race classes. The return of the Super Sporting class to the circuit championship marks the return of seasoned local racing stars to the Vios Cup track with 2019 sport class champion Red Diwa joining the Super Sporting class this season. Dealer teams, Obengers Racing Team, R Racing and JBT Racing will also join in on the track action this weekend.

The sport class and the promotional class complete the three racing classes for this year – in which a total of 24 racers from the circuit will participate for the first stage. Vios Cup veterans famous riders Daniel Matsunaga, Troy Montero and Fabio Ide will be back on the grid, this time in the promotional class, taking on other participants for the Circuit Championship.

The Autocross Challenge, where individual participants traverse a defined obstacle course, aiming to finish the track perfectly with the shortest lap possible, is also back to make racing a more inclusive and accessible sport. This season’s Autocross Challenge will welcome 24 competitors – 12 media and 12 various personalities – for this racing weekend.
