Toyota wraps up Gazoo Racing Vios Cup 2021 season in high gear – Manila bulletin

An action-packed finale

This year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup ended with an action-packed final weekend. 49 riders gathered at Clark International Speedway on November 6 to join the third and final stage of the 2021 edition of Toyota Motor Philippines’ first motorsport program. The race weekend turned out to be the highlight of this season with some exciting developments and new names entering the top spots.

“Today marks another milestone for the country’s premier motorsport program. We are at the home stretch – the last stop in this year’s races, ”TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto said during the opening program. “We overcame a lot of obstacles to bring back the TGR Vios Cup. And we couldn’t have done it without all of you. On behalf of Toyota Motor Philippines and all of our partners, I would like to thank you for your continued support and participation this season, ”he continued.

The final stage included three classes of circuit championship races – Super Sporting, Sporting and Promotional with 6, 7 and 17 riders respectively for each class; and the Autocross Challenge with media, celebrities and influencers as participants.

Double points in the last two Circuit Championship races gave the riders the chance to get ahead of the winners of the previous stage. The reigning second leg winners have stepped into metal to enter full competition mode to secure the league title.

Starting the weekend with a competitive stride, Jiro Garbes, Jacob Ang and Pauland Dumlao were top-placed on the podium in their respective race classes for Race 7.

The riders pushed the limits of grip, with Asiatel – OTR Racing Team rider Jason Lao claiming victory for the promotional class for Race 8. Meanwhile, Team Eagle Cement rider Racing, Jacob Ang, dominated the sports class while Pauland Dumlao took first place on the podium. again for the Super Sporting class.

Riders Troy Montero, Joaquin Garrido and Estefano Rivera were in the spotlight in their respective classes for the last race of the season.

The thrill continued in the Autocross Challenge with a higher level of difficulty in the last round. The riders had to bring their A game by maneuvering through more obstacles compared to the previous stages while tackling a different area of ​​the track.

The match ended with social media personality Jules Aquino winning the Celebrity and Influencers title, with Arron Villaflor and Lexi Mendiola second and third respectively. In the Media class, Jose Altoveros finally beat the other riders, followed by Enzo Delos Reyes and Paolo De Borja as second and third placers.

Motorsport enthusiasts shared the enthusiasm of the livestream. After slowing down in 2020 due to the pandemic, Toyota’s comeback on the circuits reaffirms the company’s waku-doki spirit. Watch for the next thrilling Vios Cup season for even more excitement to crank the engine.
